Now Hiring: General Laborer (Seasonal, On-Call Position)
White Stripes Parking Maintenance is looking for a dependable General Laborer to assist with pavement maintenance projects, including cleaning and preparing surfaces, parking lot striping, pavement markings, sealcoating, and minor asphalt repairs.
Location: Colorado Springs and neighboring communities
Pay: $20-25 per hour depending on experience and reliability
Schedule: Seasonal, on-call work based on project schedules and weather conditions
Job Overview
This hands-on role involves outdoor physical work as part of a small crew focused on quality workmanship and teamwork. Responsibilities include preparing pavement surfaces, assisting with striping and sealcoating operations, operating basic tools and equipment, and helping ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
No prior striping or asphalt experience is required. On-the-job training will be provided for reliable applicants who are comfortable with physical outdoor work.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and prepare asphalt and concrete surfaces by removing dust, debris, vegetation, and loose material.
- Assist with sealcoating operations, including handling hoses and ensuring even coverage.
- Help lay out parking lot striping and pavement markings.
- Apply traffic paint and assist with pavement marking installation.
- Load and unload equipment and materials from trucks and trailers.
- Operate basic hand tools and light machinery, such as striping machines (training provided).
- Set up cones, barricades, and safety signage at job sites.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
A Typical Workday
Workdays often start early and may involve traveling to job sites around the Colorado Springs area and nearby communities. Tasks may include cleaning pavement surfaces, helping with sealcoating operations, laying out parking lot striping, moving equipment, and assisting the crew to complete projects safely and efficiently.
Work is performed outdoors and can involve walking, lifting materials, and working around equipment throughout the day.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction or outdoor labor is helpful but not required.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation to Monument or job sites in the Colorado Springs area.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally, with assistance as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform manual labor for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Schedule
- This is a seasonal, on-call position. Hours will vary depending on weather and project scheduling. Early-season hours may be limited, with more consistent work expected as the season ramps up in late spring and summer.
- Work opportunities are offered based on project schedules and weather conditions. Workers may accept or decline individual shifts depending on availability.
- Because pavement work is weather dependent, schedules may occasionally change with short notice.
